A little update from CQ

At last I have internet in my flat, so now I can upload pictures and update you guys on what is happening around here, which is in some ways not a whole lot, and in other ways a lot.

Today at 10 am the internet guy came by, I was glad that he came, for about 5 min. until I found out that he stank like two days old waste that has been sitting in the sun...not nice, but I had to let him in.

The rest of the day was spend relaxing, reading and doing a bit of light cleaning...my cleaning lady is not all too effective, I have to have a talk with her.

Dinner was at my local sushi place 58 yuan for an all-you-can-eat- buffet.

But on the 6th of August I had a very nice experience. Jacob, the other intern, and I were invited to attend, and represent Denmark, for the 45 anniversary celebration of Singaporean independence day celebration - so on with the high heels and nice cloths (for the first time in a really long time) And of we went, not knowing what to expect.

But we hadn't been there for more than 30 sec. before we were greeted by the CEO of a Singaporean company, who were co-hosting the event with the Chongqing Singapore Club. We were then led to the VIP room where we got to sit and converse with the Consuls from Singapore, Japan, Philippines, Hungary and some Singaporean and Chinese CEOs. After the VIP room, were were led to our tables, which were right by the stage, nice for a blind mole like me, but my ears didn't like it as music was blared out at a level than made conversation virtually impossible, and gave me a head ache.

After quite a few speeches and some performance we got started on the eating, which for the most part was fairly plain, but nice, the only "delicacy" was the turtle soup, where shield, paws and other limbs were floating around in the liquid...

After this very "renao" (a Chinese word for a good party, somewhere along the lines of "loud and warm") I went home to nurse my head ache with a good book - I am so glad to live on the 18th floor where street noises are not clearly heard (well they can be heard but I don't hear them)

Take care.
